- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1/4 t salt
- 1 t bi-carb soda
- 110g butter / 1 stick/ 1/4 pound
- 4 oz oil / 120 ml
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup cocoa more if you want it really chocolaty
- 4oz buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup applesauce
- 2 cups sugar
- Sift flour, salt and bi-carb into bowl
- In a pot heat butter, oil, water and cocoa till melted together
- Mix buttermilk, eggs and applesauce then add sugar in bowl
- Add sifted ingredients to egg ingredients and beat
- Fold in the chocolate mixture and combine
350 deg F for 40mins or until stick comes out dry
